Hockey with a ball!

I went to see the Red Bulls play the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday in an amazing game. The Red Bulls won 5-4 in a NINE goal game, which I have never seen. There were 66,000 people there to see Beckham play. All the Red Bulls games I've been to before there have been just a few thousand in the stands. Anyway, the fact that nine goals were scored means there was clearly a breakdown in defense, but it made the game very exciting as the lead kept going back and forth and in the end the Red Bulls were triumphant. Beckham played the whole game and he was great. Whenever he had a free kick, which was a lot, the crowd would erupt in both boos and flashbulbs, a bit of a mixed message. As a strategy to get people to soccer games, Beckham is definitely a hit! The guy next to me who had clearly never been to a soccer game before was completely entranced. He kept yelling, "It's like hockey with a ball!"
